Meet WUUSKÎ.
Hey, I'm WUUSKÎ — the founder, designer, and artist behind WUUSKÎ.
I was born and raised in Connecticut. I always loved art and fashion growing up, but we didn't have much to buy new clothes from stores. When I was 15, I taught myself how to sew, and started going to local thrift stores to find clothes and sneakers I could rework. To this day, the majority of my closet still consists of mainly thrifted, up-cycled pieces I've redesigned and are still in my weekly rotation.
That's how WUUSKÎ started back in 2015. From custom painted Air Force 1's, to tee shirts and denim jeans my friends in school would wear— without telling anyone I made them.
I graduated high school and chose to skip college and turn down a soccer scholarship — I turned it down to develop and find my style as an artist. A couple months later, I booked a one-way flight to Atlanta to not only find inspiration, but to create and experience something new.
Years later, I'm still here. Every collection, every drop, every piece is designed and curated in this city — most importantly, with the community involved.
I never "created" WUUSKÎ — this is just my personal diary where I share some of my stories, and many experiences with y'all. <3
behind the brand.
At WUUSKÎ, we correlate the meaning of our brand with the meaning of flowers.
Flowers represent significant signs of growth and happiness — while also contradicting events of loss and sadness. The use of color and flower patterns in our designs are made to contrast the color palette of the streetwear industry, but also the importance of balance and perspective in our daily lives.
We purposely create our flowers with a variety of shapes and sizes, to demonstrate the living beauty of our differences within ourselves and others. We use specific color palettes to break away from current stereotypes in the fashion industry, that continuously disconnect us from one another.
Flowers can only grow in the rain — meaning there will always be obstacles and lessons to learn before being able to grow into a better version within ourselves.
Even after the rain, flowers aren't perfect. But they still hold their unique beauty — those beautiful moments in our lives, the appreciation of one another, and a sense of joy with just a simple touch of color, even in a dark situation.
"rewolf"
